The route below is for a Barcelona-Malaga hire, if you go the other way you can flip it around!
Stop off at Tarragona and check out the Roman remains there including city walls, an amphitheatre, circus and many more! Visit Spains 3rd largest city of Valencia and mooch around the old quarter with its fortified gateways, quaint shops and gothic houses. Valencia also has superb beaches within easy reach and if you’re after the nightlife check out Calle Caballeros - the street to head to. If you’re visiting in March make sure you’re there for Las Fallas fire festival on the 19th. Alicante is worth a visit and is the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca - if you’re after a mild climate and vast beaches, this is for you!
When you get to Almeria make sure you go to Cabo de Gata National Park - the park is a haven of wild, unspoilt beaches with the Mermaid Reef which is popular for underwater fishing. Also in this area is the small resort of San Jose and the sand dunes between Benahadux and Tabernas are well worth a visit, they have been previously used as film sets.
Make sure you also visit the large town of Guadix where half of the inhabitants live underground in cave houses! Head to the southern part of the town and follow the signs to ‘Barrio Troglodyte’ for a nosey. Then stop off in Granada and see the majestic peaks of the Sierra nevada where you can also take advantage of the snowsports available from December-April. The breathtaking Alhambra monument is a must for any traveller through Spain and Granadas free tapas with every drink in every bar at nighttime is not to be sniffed at! If you’re into adventure sports you can get your fix here too.
You can always add on extra days to your hire and drive past Malaga and visit Spains southern most point of Tarifa which is a mecca for windsurfing, kitesurfing, and.. surfing. Tarifa is arty, eclectic, hip and super laid back. You could also visit Gibraltar and perhaps even Portugal for further kicks.

7 day/6 nights. £199 fixed price for hire that commence between 1 October - 31 March. Price £650 fixed for hires commence between 1 April-30 Sept. Includes 2 drivers 21+ Standard insurance option included, you can choose extra damage cover if you wish at an additional cost. Either Multi seater or 2 Seater van. Van to be picked up at either our Barcelona or Malaga depot in Spain and to be dropped off at the other.
